Sports at Rolph
Sport is a very important part of our curriculum at Rolph C of E Primary School.
Children are encouraged to have an active life style.
Every year in June, we hold a sports week. During this week children are given opportunities to experience new sports. So far children have taken part in:
* Low ropes
We have also had a visit from an Olympic Gymnast Danny Lawrence.
We offer a range of extra-curricular sport and activity clubs.
A group of children in year five and six participated in a squash tournament at Frinton Lawn Tennis club.
The children learnt a lot of skills during training sessions and then put them into practise against 2 other local schools.
Our teams were
Year 5 - Ben, Finley, Lucy, Freya and Lily-Mae.
Year 6 - Kai, Oliver, Jensen, Sophie and Leoni.
The children enjoyed competing against the other schools. Altogether 6 teams competed. Our year 6 team walked away with second place, only a couple of points behind the leading team. Well done to both teams showing fantastic sportsmanship.
In December 2015 10 children from year 6 represented the school on an Adventure Run held at Birch Hall.
The children ran a 2km course with a number of challenging obstacles. These included climbing walls and going through tunnels. The sun was shining, although it was very muddy underneath.
The team was:
Joshua, Alex, Ben, Archie, Joshua, Kia, Maisey, Elin, Chloe and Olivia.
Well done to the entire team who worked together and persevered to the end.
